CELEBRATING MATEO
There's a college essay waiting to be written about the whys and what-fors of the friendship I have with Mateo, but this isn't it.
Suffice it to say: After more than a year of intense typing, talking and texting, Mateo of San Diego came to meet Tank Montreal.
We'd predicted that our meeting, in theory, had to be special, regardless of how we spent the time. We wouldn't let it be any other way, we'd promised ourselves.
We were right on the money. We had a super swell time. Mostly, we just poked around the city, not really caring what we were doing or seeing. We talked, we laughed, we walked, we explored, we danced, we ate, we shopped, we took pictures, we laughed some more - all of it framed by our unabashed gladness about being in the same place at the same time. They call it chemistry, folks.
So I'm climbing up on the roof of blogland, shouting out my love, respect and admiration for this man. Yippee - I got to meet Mateo!!! The virtual's turned into the tactile. Tank happy.
And the celebration continues. Big big smiles all 'round.

Wow...he's certainly celebrate-able.
still having fun?
bigassbelle: Yes indeedy-do, thanks for asking. What Matty and I have's more than fun, though. It's life-affirming. We're both in recovery - i think you understand how that can be - and we're very tight, but in the right way.
aw, always fun to meet a kindred spirit.
You actually met someone you know from blogland? I think that is very cool. I am sure it doesn't hurt that you are both handsome, smart, and in recovery. I have thought it would be fun to meet the people I read and respond to, but then, I have reservations as well. I think its interesting that a cyber friendship has made a real time leap. Enjoy your frienship, and keep us updated. Here by way of Belle, and JMG. Have lurked here a few times, and enjoy your posts.
tater: Keep your eyes open for a future post of mine, now on the writing board, about a slew of surprise real-life blogger encounters I had last fall...
Since our meeting, it seems we have done the unthinkable - and that is to have actually grown even closer.
You and I are brothers... it's just as simple as that.
I love you dearly...
